Pre-Microneedling Instructions
To ensure the best results and minimize complications, please follow these guidelines 3–5 days before your appointment:
Before Your Treatment
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 72 hours prior.
- Discontinue use of retinoids, exfoliants, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), and vitamin C serums for 3–5 days.
- Avoid waxing, laser treatments, or chemical peels for at least 1 week prior.
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or blood-thinning supplements (unless prescribed) for 3 days before treatment.
- If you are prone to cold sores, ask your provider about taking an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
- Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or perfume on the treatment area.
- Stay well-hydrated and eat a light meal before your session.
Post-Microneedling Instructions
Your skin will go through a natural healing process. Follow these steps carefully to maximize results and reduce side effects:
Immediately After (Days 1–2)
- Expect mild redness, tightness, and sensitivity similar to a mild sunburn.
- Do not touch, rub, or pick at your skin.
- Avoid applying makeup or sunscreen for at least 24 hours.
- Use only gentle cleansers and hydrating serums recommended by your provider.
- Avoid sweating, saunas, hot showers, and exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid direct sun exposure completely.
Days 3–5
- Redness and flaking may continue; this is normal as the skin renews.
- Continue using gentle, hydrating skincare (e.g., hyaluronic acid, ceramide moisturizers).
- You may apply mineral makeup if needed after 48 hours.
- Continue to avoid retinols, exfoliants, and acids for 5–7 days post-treatment.
Days 6 and Beyond
- Resume your normal skincare routine once your provider approves and skin is fully healed.
- Always apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to protect your results.
- Results will continue to improve over the next several weeks as collagen production increases.
